History:

Project EZRAH was founded in the fall of 2001 in response to the growing crisis of unemployment in the Teaneck community. The original concern was to help unemployed members of the community maintain and pay for their health insurance. As word spread, the founders of Project EZRAH were able to tap into the goodwill and sensitivity of members of the community with networking and job referrals.

“You should help the poor of your city”

Our Uniqueness:

Many organizations and businesses match up resumes with potential employers. What makes Project EZRAH different? We are unique because we are sensitive to the plight of the unemployed as well as to the needs of prospective employers. How does this work? We have found that employers in our community prefer to hire a Project EZRAH candidate. Our community has been sensitized to the needs of those individuals who are now unemployed, those who are in need of social services, educational scholarships, health insurance and money for food. Because of Project EZRAH and our local rabbinate, our community has been receptive to the notion of aniyei ircha kodmim, helping one’s own community takes priority over reaching out to others.

In the past, there has been a tendency to be somewhat reticent in hiring a neighbor because of a perceived fear that a friendship might be strained. However, these are not normal times. If we are reluctant to help our own friends and neighbors, who will. Project EZRAH recognizes this issue and understands that no matter how altruistic a person is, he should not have to jeopardize his own business.

We are committed to making every effort to ensure each potential employer will also benefit by a Project EZRAH placement. We do not forward resumes to employers before the candidate has met and interviewed with a Project EZRAH counselor. Each candidate is screened at our offices for job readiness and references are checked. Once we are confident of a candidate’s ability and character, we research our databank for an appropriate position. Only when we are sure of a good match will we forward a candidate’s resume to a prospective employer. We have established a solid reputation with many companies who make Project EZRAH their first call when they are looking to hire.
